I have to give a shout out to Liz this morning, who did such an awesome job with my hair last nigh (pictures to follow shortly). I had big fat curls, all piled on top of my head…totally amazing. (Sorta like I imagine Piper’s hair actually, so kinda cool from that perspective too). I had no idea my hair could even look like that. So *hugs* to Liz. And *hugs* to Jeffe for talking us through our pitch madness yesterday. Couldn’t ask for better friends.
The faery ball itself was very nice too – the costumes were great. Spent quite a bit of time chatting up some EC authors. Got some web work from one of them. 🙂 I debated entering the contest, but in the end I was just entirely too chickenshit and I didn’t. *shrugs* Prancing around on the stage just isn’t my thing, I guess. The shoes were a massive hit, however. People randomly just came up and took pictures of my shoes. Not me. The shoes. Not sure what that says. Stacia Kane loved them actually too – she and Liz and I had a lovely conversation with her at the Lords of Midnight thing (after the faery ball). Most of it I really can’t repeat and I suspect she may have been a wee bit drunk, but she had some very good advice about talking with Heather Osborn (who I’m pitching to in about an hour).
I will say the music at the ball sucked ass. Not much dancing, honestly. DJ said he could only play stuff from the 80’s. We left when they started playing the Macarena. Which technically isn’t 80’s I don’t think, but it still sucked. Lords of Midnight was a separate party put on by Deidre Knight. I don’t think we really paid that much attention – although the “musical Spartan” thing was rather amusing. Think musical chairs, except the chairs are all models dressed like Spartans and you get the idea. I chose to watch sagely from the shadows.
And then it was back into the hot tub for a nice soak. Very helpful for my back, actually, so I’m going to hit it up a few more times before I go.
Vampire ball is tonight. I have my corset. I can only hope the music is better.
