Well, finally, I managed to get my crap together and get that submission package sent to Tor. I don’t know why it took me as long as I did – for a little while I got stuck in that cycle of “it’s just not *good* enough”. And I edited and edited and edited and edited some more. And the truth of the matter is that no matter how much editing I did, I still felt like it was never going to get there. Probably just an excuse on my part. Fear of rejection sucks, though it’s probably something I’m going to have to get used to. Finally, I just decided that it was as good as it was going to get, for the moment, and I bit the bullet and sent it out.
Of course, I sent it last night and got the return receipt this morning. So now I’m jumping every time a new email comes in. Ridiculous, really. The editor isn’t going to be reading it *today*. LOL. (And I hate return receipts, but in this case I thought it justified – I’d hate to send this stuff out and then wonder if it was ever received, assuming I never heard back).
Ah well. Back on the wagon for now. I’ve got some contest entries to judge and some queries to write and back to the writing grind after that. Book 2 has been partially started, but I need to make sure it’s in line with some of the other things I’m thinking about weaving into the story. Plus I’ve got one or two other smaller projects half started that I think might be fun to finish out – mostly novella length, but word-whore that I am, they will probably expand into an 8 book series. 🙂
