Mystery Box for the Win

Remember the mystery package I sent to my editor a few days ago? Well, she got it today so I can finally show you what’s in it. (It’s her birthday this week, but seeing as I’ll be out of town, I figured I’d send her something a little early, just for being such an awesome editor.) And yes, I realize I am a big silly, but I really did have fun putting together the first prototype of: Phineas! Complete with Hello Kitty underwear on his head! And bacon! Or at least band-aids that look like strips of bacon. (I’m a little hedgey about sending actual food products to people. (And honestly bacon-flavored mints sounded pretty damn nasty) In case you needed a close up of the bacon: Okay then, now I shall endeavor to crawl back into my hole and get something done today. (In other news, the suitcase I ordered for…

Unicorns Rock

It was suggested to me, (by Jeffe, of course), that I might be able to get away with a sparkly unicorn t-shirt at Nationals. Unfortunately, I seem to have gotten rid of all of mine once I turned 12. However, I did find this brilliant site -> Unicorns Rock They seem to have taken the art of unicorn awesomeness to a completely new level. Unfortunately they aren’t shipping until Fall, so I’m afraid I won’t be getting a zombie unicorn shirt any time soon. (If you have suggestions, I’ll be happy to take them, however. Unicorns with bacon would be especially cool.) And, um, I’m probably a medium, if you’re looking to be really generous. 😉…

Edits for the Win, Baby!

Finally. I was up until 3 on Saturday and 2:30 last night, but they are *done*. It’s a relief and bittersweet all at once, honestly. I’ve been working on this puppy for nearly two years now. It’s hard to imagine not being able to go back and just “tweak” a few things whenever I feel like it. It’s terrifying, in a way. Aside from line edits, there’s nothing else to be done. Except work on Book 2, which I will be calling A Comb of Darkness. (Thanks KAK, you big weenie). I’ve even got a photoshopped nightmare of a cover in mind, but not one I’m working on today. Iz tired, you know. But truthfully, my head has been turning more and more to the next story – I’m rather excited about it. So there we have it. I’m running through one final read (just to make sure I wasn’t…

This is so full of win I can hardly speak. (Mostly because I’m laughing so damn hard.) Revenge never tasted so sweet, I suppose. Thanks, Adri – if I have an extra ARC, it’s yours. 🙂 And btw, Adri also made this: I suspect I’ll be handing out quite a few of them – seeing as I owe many people a very great deal. (I’ll leave that to another post with some well-thought out reasons, however.)…

Random Bits of Awesomesauce

I finished my edits last night. Finally. At least the first round of them. I’ve already got the first 16 chapters back to start the process over again, but the hard part is technically done, so now it’s just polish and snip, I think. (I managed to add about 5000 extra words to the manuscript, so I suspect we’re going to have to streamline it a bit). I’m a little sketchy with how I’ve got the ending set up so I will probably be going back through that again, but as of 2 AM this morning, I couldn’t really focus on it anymore. I sent it off to my editor to give her a chance to look at the rest of it, and maybe we can come up with something better. I think I’ve been looking at it a little too long, so it’s probably good to just give it…
