Mini Game Roundup

Posted in blog | Tagged , | Leave a comment
It occurs to me I’ve been sorely neglecting my overall gaming activities, but I have been fairly busy, so when time is at a premium, the video games tend to get put on the back burner. That being said, I have hit up a few in the last several months that I thought were pretty interesting, so here goes. Incidentally, I tend to flit from game to to game depending on my mood, so I haven’t finished all of them, but I will get around to it. Unravel – I’ve only played the first two levels so far, but I love it. It’s nicely challenging without being massively frustrating, and the soundtrack is very soothing. Not to mention the graphics, which are also lovely. The concept is great too – as an enchanted piece of yarn (aka “Yarny”) you enter photographs to collect a family’s memories.   LEGO Marvel Avengers  – I… Read more

Dragon Age Art Shinies

So when Aimo came to visit this past October we did a LOT of cooking. And eating. And actually, she did most of the cooking – because she’s awesome.  (I bought all the ingredients, though. ^_^) And then she wrote up a comic about her food adventures while she was here, including the part where Dan and I decided we wanted to adopt her so she could continue to feed us. (It’s several pages long and chronicles everything from Shake Shack during NYCC to Bilbo Baggins in Old Town, so, you know, full of noms.) If you’ve been following me, you’ll notice that my own cooking stuff picked up once she left. Basically, we got spoiled tremendously, and while I don’t consider myself a chef by any stretch, it turns out I’m pretty good at following recipes, so at least there’s that. At any rate, she just sent me a… Read more

Katsucon 2016

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | 2 Comments
I had the opportunity to attend part of Katsucon this Saturday. Yes, that’s Lucy in a fuzzy rainbow bear hat with paws thing. It is amazing. (Connor doesn’t dress up, but he still has fun.) To be honest, I’m not much for Valentine’s Day as a holiday anyway, and instead of spending money on a fancy dinner, I’d much rather hit an anime convention with the family. So off we went. Last year, it was a last minute thing, and we bought the tickets same day, which meant waiting in line for over 3 hours to get badges, so I pre-ordered this time around. More expensive since I had to buy all 3 days for 4 people, but from a pain perspective, I wasn’t going to be able to handle that much standing so it was worth the extra cost. For the most part it was overall just a nice… Read more

Tangled Threads

I’ve been picking up my sewing in the evenings over the last week or so. Part of this is because I so rarely seem to find time do it. Since I’m waiting on feedback from my agent, I decided a few days of guilt-free crafting was deserved. As hobbies go, it’s definitely one that doesn’t feel worth it unless I have at least a solid hour or more – it’s very frustrating to get everything set up and finally get into that rhythm only to be interrupted 15 minutes later. (And don’t get me started on “distractions” like the TV – as background noise, it’s fine, but if I’m actually trying to watch it, it becomes a disaster – lots of counting mistakes when I’m not paying attention to where I am in the pattern. There is nothing more heartbreaking than getting 2/3 through a big sewing project only to… Read more

Sitting Pretty

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , | 2 Comments
So we all survived the winter storm, more or less. Not that 30 inches is anything to sneeze at – but we didn’t lose power, and quite frankly that was the one thing I was really worried about. The kids were off of school for over a week, but aside from that, everything was pretty good. No harm done. Not sure if we’ll be getting anything else this winter or not, but I’ve about had my fill of precipitation at the moment. It’s cool with me if we move right into Spring now. In the meantime, I’ve been editing away on this new(ish) book. Finally got that out to the agent the other night, and I’m giving myself a few days to not look at anything of my own. Beta reads for friends, absolutely, but I’d gotten to the point on my own manuscript where it seemed like everything sucked.… Read more
