Random Bits of Awesomesauce

I finished my edits last night. Finally. At least the first round of them. I’ve already got the first 16 chapters back to start the process over again, but the hard part is technically done, so now it’s just polish and snip, I think. (I managed to add about 5000 extra words to the manuscript, so I suspect we’re going to have to streamline it a bit). I’m a little sketchy with how I’ve got the ending set up so I will probably be going back through that again, but as of 2 AM this morning, I couldn’t really focus on it anymore. I sent it off to my editor to give her a chance to look at the rest of it, and maybe we can come up with something better. I think I’ve been looking at it a little too long, so it’s probably good to just give it…

The Unbreaking of Me

The three hours at the homeopath on Thursday were among the toughest of my life. Homeopaths attempt to treat the entire person as opposed to just physical symptoms, and they believe that many ailments can be triggered by emotional issues. Apparently, I have a lot. And that’s not to just rehash the stuff about my mom – we went back pretty far into my childhood and worked our way up to the present. Parts of the discussion were eyeopening. Parts were heartbreaking. There were many questions I either couldn’t answer or didn’t want to answer (and there is a difference).I broke down and cried more than once. I repress a *lot*. And I’ve apparently been doing it for much longer than I realized. When it’s beaten into your head that you’re pretty much a worthless piece of shit by your peers for the majority of your school years, it tends…

Like Sand Through the Hourglass…

Yeah. That’s about right. I’m writing this a little earlier today – I have an appointment with a homeopath this afternoon, and it’s one of those really long 3 hour sorts of appointments. I doubt I’ll be fit for much more by the time I get home. Arthritis doc called this morning – results are looking good thus far on the RA/lupus front which is awesome news. My Vitamin D counts are pretty low, but I’m already taking supplements for that, so hopefully I’m on the mend there. I got through another chapter last night…trying to give the Big Bad a bit more facetime, and I’ve added a nice twist to our hero which should hopefully give us enough angst to lead us nicely into the next book. In either case, I found myself procrastinating a bit as the night moved on. Kind of like with writing the book –…

Pajama Jeans

I have to admit I suspected WTFkery when I first saw them. (Courtesy of Mr myn, who actually snagged me a pair for Mother’s Day.) Because they’re pajamas! But they’re also jeans! Jeans you can sleep in. They have pockets with rivets, but no front zipper. Is a puzzlement. But I’ve decided that they are actually pure genius. And clearly made for moms.** Or writers. Or gamers. Or people who have a tendency to stay up too late and fall sleep in their clothes. *cough* Why so awesome? Because they’re soft enough that they feel pretty comfortable, but on the other hand, I can answer the door in them without feeling like I’m still in my…pajamas? Which probably doesn’t make much sense, but if you’ve ever been awakened at 6 am to make pancakes for munchkins after 3 hours of sleep, you’ll probably get it. It’s like – okay, I’m…
