I For One Welcome our Hello Kitty Overlords…

I just had to share this awesome Hello Cthulhu cake…because it is AWESOME. That and to express a little amazement at my son, who dropped $30 on books at his school book fair. Not that I ever mind my kids buying books – I would take that a hundred-fold over video games or crappy toys. I’m just surprised because he’s eight and that’s a lot of cash for someone that young. (Saved up from his birthday over the summer.) Definitely a trend I intent to keep on encouraging, anyway. Also, I’m over at Word-Whores today, talking a little bit about vampires and werewolves.…

There is far too much awesome in this picture for me NOT to post it. In the meantime, I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit out four-letter words. Not the dirty kind, per se, but just as a general concept.…

Word Whore Thursday: Where I Want To Live

Over at Word-Whores for my weekly blog post – this time on where I want to move back to. (Yes, that would be the beach.) Otherwise things have been fairly quiet. I’ve been out doing some test driving of cars (going to test a Jeep today). I don’t want to make any snap decisions, but I must admit I really hate to car shop – although last night was fairly amusing. We had to take the kids with us, and I don’t know WHY it is, but whenever I tell them “Hey, you guys need to be quiet and while we do this,” it’s like I hit an internal switch that makes them act as obnoxious as possible. If it wasn’t Connor chattering away at the sales guy about his Transformers game on his DS, it was Lucy. Telling him all about how she had to pee. But she was…

Word Whore Thursday: Holidays

I’m over at Word-Whores today talking a little bit about holidays. Think I just got sorta off-base and rambly though. Suppose that’s okay. Otherwise, I just want to give a quick shout out to Jeffe Kennedy for her release yesterday of Feeding the Vampire! Go check it out! 🙂 Also somewhat randomly, @kindlegraph has created a funky new service which allows authors to “sign” Kindle copies of books. Essentially, if you have a Kindle and you want an autograph of sorts – you go sign up for this free service and then I customize a message and attach digital signature and it automatically gets downloaded to your Kindle, just like an ebook. 🙂 So, if you’re interested in getting something like that from me, go here and make a request. (It’s still in beta, so there may be a few bumps, but if this can get expanded into other formats…

Word Whores & Reluctant Adult Twofer

Okay – got a couple of guest posts kicking around today – my usual Thursday slot on Word Whores is about literary crushes (always a fun topic). And I’m also over at League of Reluctant Adults talking a bit about Womanthology, which is a killer collaborative effort between some fabulous professional comic book artists/writers (all women) and unpubbed artists/writers. There’s a waiting list for a second volume – so if you’ve got any artistic talent or wish to try your hand at writing a small comic, now’s your chance. (I threw my name in there, just for fun. I’ve always wanted to try writing for comics/gns and I figured it couldn’t hurt. Guess we’ll see what happens.)…
