Late night post tonight. Last day or so has been a bit of a crazy mess. Win: I bought a new car. It’s a Kia Sorento – basically a glorified mommy mobile, but it should do the job nicely, so that’s good. Plus I got a good number on my trade in. Fail: Going to Best Buy today to see about getting a subwoofer installed in said Kia. (I like a little extra junk in the trunk, so to speak.) Said experience went like this: 1) Get to Best Buy. Linger around the Mobile section. Watch as salesboys gawk at me and walk by without offering to help. Because I have bewbs and therefore couldn’t POSSIBLY know wtf I want. 2) Sales boy comes up finally and asks me what he can help me with. I say I’m just trying to get some info on subwoofers – i.w. size/price/time for…

Okay, while I get that there’s an obesity issue with kids and people in general in the US, can I just say how much I despise the concept of this self-published book? “This book is about a 14 year old girl who goes on a diet and is transformed from being extremely overweight and insecure to a normal sized girl who becomes the school soccer star. And the fact that it’s marketed for readers age six and up. Age. Six. Six. I want to chuck my computer out the window right now. I’m all for being active and having self-confidence, but Jesus. I don’t think first graders need to feel like shit because they aren’t skinny enough. My…

You know, as much as I like drinking milk, this kind of crap drives me up a wall. Yes, that’s right, men – just buy us PMSing women some milk and we’ll get right back in that kitchen and make you some pie. Shit pie.…

So during the Literacy Signing at RWA a few weeks ago, I had a lovely fan (hi, Sarah!) show up for a signed copy of my book. She told me she read my blog every day. My first reaction was that I wanted to hug her and tell her I was sorry. (I didn’t do this.) My second reaction was to blink stupidly and smile. “Awesome!” (This is the reaction I went for. Probably better and less likely to get me a lawsuit.) But honestly it was an odd mix of flattery (“holy crap! someone reads my shit!”) to panic (“holy crap! someone reads my shit!”) Blogs are strange beasts – like online diaries that anyone can read. (And really, what’s the point, otherwise?) There’s something very freeing about it. Even though intrinsically I know other people can and do read it, it still surprises me when someone emails me and says…
