Shenanigans and Shinies
I’m over at the League of Reluctant Adults blog today, highlight a few of the more interesting things I did in New Orleans. Like here, in this picture, where I’m cutting out peen stickers for the dinner centerpiece (at my table with Carolyn Crane.) Yeah. It was *that* sort of centerpiece. *ahem* Also, since I started handing it out at the con, I’m going to show off the fun swag Jakface made for me (it’s a single postcard, but think of it like a series of photos from a photobooth. Complete with photobombing Phin… If I can find time to animate it into a gif, I’ll do that. I just gotta find some gif animating software that doesn’t hurt my head and does what I want it to do. Suggestions welcome. ) Yes, I will hand these out at WFC too. (and I can ship them out as well, but…

Doing What We Do

It’s always interesting coming back from a con. There’s the usual physical exhaustion – eating and drinking in excess, staying up too late, socializing, panels, etc, etc. (I did no dancing this time, alas. I’d forgotten some of my meds for my back and I was already super stiff by the 3rd day. Dancing would have crippled me completely.) But as to the rest of it? Yes, I had a good time. It always takes me a day or so to get into “con” mode – my first panel is nearly always a bit of a stressful thing for me – same way this time. I think I came across as a bit stiff, but once I manage to settle in, the rest of them go okay. (AAD is a bit different than other cons because there aren’t assigned moderators – this can be good, but it can also be…

Off and On
Guess I’m officially taking off for the week, more or less. I can’t promise any blogging about the conference as it happens, though I’ll certainly try to take pictures. (I always say that…and then I almost never take any. Weird.) But tonight it’s packing and getting things together and then tomorrow I’ll hit the road. It’s going to be a busy couple of days, not only because of the con, but I got hit with the deadline for my story in the Womanthology issue yesterday. Script is due…Friday. So I have to fit that in around everything else. Hell, this whole month is like that – I’m working on polishing my short story. I have a proposal to write. I have other projects to do and a few websites to develop. In short? Booked solid for the rest of this month. It’s actually kinda crazy. *breathes deep* But first things…

Authors After Dark Schedule
Putting this up a few days early, just in case anyone wants to mark their calendars. 😉 I’ll be getting into New Orleans Wednesday afternoon and bailing early Sunday morning, but otherwise my overall Authors After Dark schedule is this: Thursday: 11 – 12 – Panel: Light Paranormal 12 – 1 – Bookie Awards lunch (I’m up for 5, yo!) 4 -5 – Panel: Secret Sauce: Authors Reveal Their Favorite Tricks Friday: 10 – 11 – Panel: The Reader Responsibility: How to Keep Your Favorite Authors on the Shelves Saturday: 2 – 4 – Book Signing (open to the public!) – I’m giving away special swag for this one. Secret swag. Oh my. >_< So it’s a pretty laid back schedule for me – I am hoping to do some touristy things – if people are interested, maybe we can do an impromptu cemetery tour or something. 😀 Also, the…

Con Info
So many of my friends are gearing up for RWA this week – I’m not going, but I hope everyone has a fabulous time! 🙂 I’d like to go, but I’m trying to stick to things on the East Coast this year – budget and travel constraints and all that. Plus, I sometimes find myself wondering where my books really fit – I don’t really write romance and I don’t generally have HEAs. (Well. Except maybe this last one. In a manner of speaking. Ahem. There will hopefully be some happy readers this time around, yes?) So, weird place. Too much romance for the hard core fantasy readers…not enough for the romance readers. But it is what it is, so I’m not going to fret about it too much. I just thought I’d maybe take a spin through some different cons this year, since I’ve only ever really attended RT…
