Monday Morning Updates

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , , , | 2 Comments
I hate the fact that I didn’t blog but once last week. There are a number of reasons for this. New job stuff has left my brain a pile of mush for much of the time, and while it’s good stuff that I’m learning, I am running out of energy at the end of the day to do much more than attempt to recover enough to get some writing done.  And the writing needs to come first right now. 78k in…and no end in sight. >_< (Yes, I’m reposting an image Aimo drew for me last year when I was hurting. No, I wouldn’t turn down a Fenris oil massage right now. At all. It’s just one of those sorts of days.) I find the lack of blogging irritating though, since for several years I’ve managed to blog every day about *something* – even if it’s not the hot topic… Read more

The Sweet Smell of Success

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | Leave a comment
Well. If success smelled like unicorn farts, anyway. For all I know, it does – though it’s an awful lot like spearmint, from what I can tell. (You can purchase some fabulous Unicorn Farts chapstick yourself at this delightful etsy store. Go on. You know you want to.) That being said, I guess today’s post is about success and how one defines it. But that’s really all relative, isn’t it? Sort of like income. When I first got out of college and had a tiny one bedroom apartment and made $25k a year, I was feeling pretty awesome. After all, I’d only had hourly jobs before, so having a steady paycheck and a place I could afford and all the ramen I could eat was a good deal. And I thought I’d never need anything more. But years go by and salaries increase…and so do expenses. Funny how that works… Read more

Redirection

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
A little site update here. A few months ago I had mentioned that I was probably going to look at moving the RSS feeds from Feedburner to Feedblitz. I started that process last night (and I’m doing the same for all my other sites as well.) So bear with me if you are a subscriber and you get duplicates for a day or so – hopefully not. >_< I’m giving a mega shout-out to Phil over at Feedblitz for 1) having perfect directions set up and 2) helping me to troubleshoot when I had some issues. I think this is going to be a great product and I’m very appreciative at having such great response time. Anyway, I’ve got some redirections in place, but should you wish to move over on your own power, this is the new RSS feed URL: https://feeds.feedblitz.com/HeartoftheDreaming Mail subscribers should have been moved over to the… Read more

io9 Review

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
So the big news is that io9 reviewed Fox & Willow on Saturday – which is fabulous for us. As a self-published webcomic, getting any sort of publicity like this is sometimes very hard to come by. (And a special shout-out to Jane Kindred for helping us to get on their radar -thank you so much.) Of course, the offshoot is that I used up my 100k pageview /per month  limit on my stat tracker in about 24 hours. (That’s a *lot* of hits for us – and it’s been fun to watch the link be spread out to other sites like the Something Awful forums. Not quite viral or anything, but considering we haven’t been doing a huge amount for publicity, it’s pretty cool.) Not sure what I’ll do about the webstats – to upgrade my account will bump me into the $80 a month range, and if this… Read more

We Can Rebuild Her…

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | 1 Comment
To be honest, I never really watched the show.  I vaguely remember seeing it on TV once in a while (along with The Six Million Dollar Man), but aside from the killer sound effect, coupled with the slow-mo, I don’t remember that much about it. Funny how moving everything slower somehow made it look more impressive on TV. When I hobble into the bathroom every morning because I can’t stand straight it doesn’t seem nearly as cool. Anyway, I ended up spending several hours waiting around the doctor’s office yesterday – everything was backed up since the snow the day before played havoc on people’s appointments. But  eventually I got back there and chatted with the neurologist. It sounds simple, but I’ve got one of those back issues that isn’t. And more importantly, there isn’t just one way to treat it. So I’ve got all these opinions from various health people… Read more
