A Room At A Time
I’m not sure why home improvement projects always end up becoming larger than than their projected scope. Though it’s always a bit of a risk whenever you start pulling up the floor or knocking out a wall. Probably true about a lot of things really – surfaces hide a lot of issues and flaws, sometimes. While we are waiting for our shower to be rebuilt (next week, yay!) we went ahead and decided to redo the kids bathroom. And by we, I really mean the DH, who has managed to turn into quite the handy man. (He’s even talking about building the kids loft beds now, but first things first.) We’re lucky though – his friend has a wet saw and a blow torch, which has made some things a bit easier. But of course, nothing happens without a few bumps and no matter how much time we think it’s…

Crash and Burn
I went to bed at 10 PM last night – which for me, is *super* early. I don’t usually even head upstairs until between 12:30 and 1 AM most nights, but every once in a while I hit a wall and that’s it. One of those burning the candle at both ends things. And last week was complicated because I was sick and for various reasons just didn’t get enough rest. And games. I’ve been sucked into games again…and I’m just going to have to stop playing for a while. Which I hate, but there’s too much to do, and the games have become a distraction I can’t afford right now. Maybe once a week or something, after everything else is done. So I hit the wall and my eyes were burning and that was it. Boom. Passed out and woke up feeling better. Not completely refreshed, but better than…

Catching Up
The problem with going away on vacation…is coming back from vacation. And it’s not even that I have all the business type things to do – the emails, the website updates, the grocery shopping, etc. It’s having to come back to reality. There was something really nice about the basic routine this time around, which essentially was nothing more than getting up early, eating whatever, maybe going for a walk on the beach or wherever, doing nothing until about 2 PM and then heading to the beach until 5 or 6, showering, dinner, drinking (at least as far as the rest of the family went) and maybe another beach walk. Which sounds fairly simplistic, but I was in desperate need of simple. And that’s not to say my “do nothing time” was actually spent doing nothing. It’s more that it was spent NOT working. In fact, I could break down…

Doodle Me This
I’m not an artist and I don’t play one on TV. But when I’m stressed or distracted (or attempting to do revisions and feeling overwhelmed, *ahem*) I tend to doodle. And I doodle eyes. A lot. And little squiggly vine things. I’m not entirely sure what the eye thing means – I’ve done it for as long as I can remember. It’s almost always just one eye. And vine things. Sometimes cat faces or dog faces or snakes, but it always comes back to eyes and vines. I’m sure there’s some esoteric meaning or process to explain it. I’ve heard doodling eyes means you’re paranoid or feeling like everyone is watching you. (Possible). I don’t know about the vines – maybe I’m feeling trapped? Or maybe I just like drawing eyes and vines. (Incidentally, I’m also a rabid gum chewer when I’m writing. Or stressed out – I’ve been trying…

Sometimes it’s really awesome having artist friends – especially when you’re having a crappy day and they send you cute sketches of your DA2 character making out with smexy Fenris. (TY, Aimo! mwah!) Yeah. Anyway – so the thing about trying to keep up the blog here ever day is that it feels sort of odd. I’d always tried to keep the more “quality” posts here and the more random ones over at Blogger, but here I am. I spent a fair amount of time going through some of those imported posts this weekend, particularly on Saturday -right now I’ve only got the last year’s worth actually set up. It’s a tad frustrating at times, because I realized I tended to get a lot more comments on the Blogger blog than here, but when I imported the posts here, I had to make a decision as to how I was…
