Word-Whore & Fox and Willow Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
Two for one updates, whee. First off, I’m over at Word Whores, talking about genre – why I write it, why I read it and my rather awkward experience with a literary creative writing course in college. Also? The Avengers. And of course there’s a new page of Fox & Willow up over at Sad Sausage Dogs. 🙂  I’m hoping to create some F&W website badges this weekend to help spread the word about it. Nothing fancy, but every little bit helps. On heavy rotation on the iPod today:… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

I may have to start changing the title for these Thursday posts since Thursday is also a Fox & Willow update day. (And yes, I’m pimping the hell out of it, but you know what? I love it and I really want people to read it, so that’s just how it goes. I’m actually thinking of starting up a series of posts (on the SSD site) the specifically delves into the fairy tales we chose and why we chose them, and some of the aspects we were hoping to explore. But those will have to come a little at a time (otherwise there would be too many spoilers, I suspect.) In the meantime, the Word Whores theme this week is about chore division, though in my household I’m pretty much grateful if any chores get done at all, let alone have time to decide who does what.… Read more

Word-Whores: Guest Post on Writing Advice

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | Leave a comment
Okay – this should be my final week for needing a guest blogger to take over the reins for my posts over at Word Whores. This week it’s been all about good and bad reading advice – and it’s been great to see  how the more things change…the more things stay the same. (As in – everyone seems to get so much of the same sorts of advice, but really, it’s up to the *writer* to decide how much of it is useful. Like everything else, I suppose. Sort through the details, ignore what isn’t helpful and take the rest as you can. My guest poster is Tonia Laird – who is an up-and-coming writer over at Bioware (ha ha, my dream job, right? Game writing, FTW!) In the meantime, I’m plugging away on my revisions, as usual. Technically they are due tomorrow, but my back pain went crazy the… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

I’ve actually pulled in another guest poster for my normal weekly Word Whore blog. (And there will be another one next week as well.) I was lamenting that fact a bit last night because this week’s topic was foreign TV shows and I would have loved to talk about anime…but the deadline continues to loom and I have to streamline my time. (And I totally screwed up this weekend – I was supposed to have done my monthly League of Reluctant Adults post on Saturday and completely forgot.) Anyway, in the meantime, have a shiny – this is a sketchcard done by Aimo for the winner of the sketchcard contest Jeffe held for me on her blog during A Sliver of Shadow’s release week. (Such pretty colors!!) (There’s another shiny coming, but I can’t post it yet because the person doesn’t know about it. Ha ha.)  … Read more

Word Whore Thursday

Which is all about bacon. *ahem* Otherwise, I’m at a few other places today: 1) Pocket After Dark – co-interview between me and Jennifer Estep! Go check it out for a chance to win a signed copy of one of our books! 2) Guest post and giveaway at Grave Tells! I feel like I’m forgetting something….but I’ll update if I can remember what it is. At the moment I’m a bit turned around, but I suppose that’s nothing new. Otherwise, I’m just moving along and doing my thing, whatever that is. 🙂  … Read more
